We are the Cape Community Care Day Centre!
Caring for the Elderly and Vulnerable within the community.
About the Cape Community
An Award-Winning Day Care Centre for almost 30 Years....
…….led and run by a strong volunteer and community team who bring vulnerable beneficiaries from our migrant communities together. Aged between 65 and 98, the majority have a mental and/or a physical disability, are vulnerable, living alone and and have no family members to support them. We encourage independent living, create safe, resilient support networks with their peers, provide healthy meals, enabling them to live independently for longer and taking pressure off the NHS.
What we do
Our main purpose is to reduce social isolation, give carers respite, bring different communities together and ensure the BME service users have a healthy hot meal and are kept connected with a primary care referral to professional services and health awareness sessions/initiatives.
How we do this:
Tuesdays and Thursdays are Service Days, accessible transport is available for door-to-door collection and drop off. Coffee Morning, Weekly Home Visiting, and a Befriending service to the isolated.
We also host a seasonal Creation Youth Club for 6–16-year-olds. Offering mental and physical stimulation and encouraging social participation. Outdoor activities – fresh air- no gadgets – healthy lunch.
Activities include:
Weekly Exercise, Bingo, Crafts such as card making, tiling and flower arranging. Beat-IT Drumming and Musical therapy for stimulation. Social outings to beautiful gardens, restaurants, Educational and Seaside outings. We provide hot healthy cultural meals for all our vulnerable service users and a Meals-on-Wheels service to Shut-in’s.
Health awareness sessions are available once a week on topics such as Diabetes, Dementia, Healthy eating, Cancer, welfare rights and access and basic Digital introduction and many more.
What we don't do:
Services users need to be able to independently eat, walk (anyone with a mobility aid is welcome) and use the WC.
